Let me first start by saying that telling a pregnant woman to drink 24oz of water in an hour and a half and not go to the bathroom, followed by pressing on her stomach for the subsequent 15 minutes could be considered modern day torture.
Other than that, today was pretty awesome. We had our 20 week ultrasound. It’s where they count all the fingers and toes, measure the baby from crown to rump, look at the brain, spinal cord, etc. The only problem (at least for me) is that all of this is done by an ultrasound tech that’s only job is to take pictures and send them onto the radiologist, not reassure first time parents that everything looks “great”. So while Warren blissfully watched the baby swim around on the screen, I spent most of the time trying to estimate just exactly what size the brain ventricles are supposed to be at 20 weeks gestation and trying to decode the cryptic messages she was typing at the bottom of the screen. (with very little luck) Warren reassures me that when I ran to the bathroom she told him that the baby looks “great”. He may have been lying, but I think that’s what good husbands are supposed to do in that situation.
Regardless, she looked great to us 🙂 She was rolling around, sucking her thumb, crossing her legs, and covering her face with her arms. We also got the confirmation that she is indeed a little girl!
The one piece of information the tech did share with us is that our little Mango is currently 12oz! Which I immediately googled for confirmation that that was a good thing. My pregnancy app confirmed that she’s only supposed to be 8oz, so we were pretty impressed that she’s already ahead of the curve!
Here’s a picture, until next time…..
